Cake Wars....

One of the things I LOVE about weddings is that it's ever changing. Wedding styles, fashions, trends and one may argue even culture. There are so many areas that could be examined but lets talk cakes today. The wedding cake is like the centerpiece of the wedding. When I attend weddings there are a three things I "critique" the quality/elegance of the wedding by (I like to feel like my opinion actually matters, dont judge me LOL) The bride's dress, the decor and the cake. A well designed and decorated cake costs major bread (Urban Dictionary definition: Bread: Cash, money) so when a I see one, I give due appreciation and kudos for the attention to details and sacrifice of funds.

However, in 2011 a new trend is picking up.....CUPCAKES!!!!!! They're fun, colorful and they're just soooooo darn cute!!!!!

CAKE vs CUPCAKE  

• Cakes are easier to decorate. Cupcakes have to be individually decorated.
• Cakes are classier and elegant. Cupcakes are great if you're going for a fun and relaxed theme.
• Cakes are more aesthetically pleasing than Cupcakes, they look great in pictures.
• Cake cutting and serving can get pretty messy. Cupcakes are neater to serve, no cutting neccesary.
• Cakes arent necesarily the best for wedding guest on diets. Cupcakes are better for portion control.
• Cakes are more advisable for big weddings. Cupcakes are great for small/intimate weddings.
• Cakes gives you the option of having only a couple of flavors.Cupcakes can accomodate a limitless variety of flavors for guests. 
• Cakes are traditionally known. Cupcakes are more new world, very "in" and trendy.
• Cakes and cupcakes are equally as expensive depending on the quality.
